The sports world remains in a state of shock on Tuesday after a terrifying incident involving Buffalo Bills defensive back on Damar Hamlin on Monday Night Football.
Hamlin needed to be resuscitated after suffering from sudden cardiac arrest in the middle of Buffalo’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old remained in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati hospital as of Tuesday morning.
There’s since been an outpouring of support from across the sports world. Fans quickly raised over $1 million for Hamlin’s charity overnight. And athletes from across the sports world have sent Hamlin well-wishes.

Hockey Hall Of Famer Chris Pronger Sends Well Wishes To Damar Hamlin
One such tribute came from an unlikely source: Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Pronger.

“Prayers that Damar Hamlin can have the same outcome that I was fortunate to have with my incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Damar, his family, teammates and the greater NFL community during this incredibly scary time,” the tweet read.
While Pronger is widely regarded within the hockey community as a stand-up guy, the tweet has even more significance.
The six-time NHL All-Star suffered a similar incident to Hamlin in the 1998 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Detroit Red Wings defenseman Dimitri Mironov fired a shot that struck Pronger in the chest. Pronger stood up after blocking the shot. But shortly after he collapsed back to the ice.
Medical personnel then stretchered Pronger off the ice. Thankfully, he returned to playing hockey not long after and went on to play for another 13 years.
The scary incident shows just how much of a risk these athletes take each time they take the playing surface.
One fan asked Pronger how he knew he was able to return to playing.

Although Hamlin’s situation appears a bit more serious, here’s hoping he to can make a full recovery.
