Clemson Fans Get Bad News About Star RB Will Shipley Ahead Of Notre Dame Showdown

If the Clemson Tigers are going to get their 2023 season back on track, they’ll have to do without the services of star running back Will Shipley.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that Shipley will miss the Tigers showdown with Notre Dame on Saturday due to a concussion.

Shipley, who has 635 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns this season, entered concussion protocol since taking a hit in Clemson’s loss to NC State last week.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had previously labeled him as “day-to-day” during the week.

That’s another option off the table for a Tigers program who is shockingly 4-4 and in danger of missing a bowl game altogether.

The struggles have turned the heat up on Swinney, who took his frustrations out on a radio show caller earlier this week.

When the caller asked Swinney what he’s done to deserve his enormous salary, Swinney launched into a tirade.

“You’re part of the problem,” the Clemson coach replied. “If you want to apply for the job, go for it. And good luck to you…To answer your question, I started as the lowest-paid coach in this business…I worked my a– off. I’m not going to let this smart a– kid get on the phone and tell me how to do my job.

“If you got a problem with that, that’s fine. But I’m not going to sit here and let you call. I don’t give a crap how much money I make. You ain’t gonna talk to me like I’m 12 years old. Gotta be freaking kidding me.”

That’s caller, a 29-year-old name Tyler, has since walked back his comments and apologized.

But that doesn’t make thing any easier on Swinney. Or on the Tigers.

And now things just got a little more difficult with a strong Notre Dame team coming to town.
