CM Punk stepped into the ring with an actual MMA opponent yesterday. The results were glowing, but keep in mind, this is coming from his trainer.
Punk participated in a scrimmage yesterday, taking on professional fighter Craig Eckelberg. Punk’s coach, Duke Roufusport, posted a photo of Punk on Instagram with the following assessment of his pupil.
“MMA fight scrimmage yesterday at Roufusport Punk has some things to work on but he showed a lot of potential. Proud of CM Punk, did his (first) live MMA Sparring today. You can teach skill but you can’t teach will. Getting better every day! He’s very dedicated thanks to all our team for the support.”
Punk opponent was no slouch — Eckelberg is 4-0 as a professional and 6-1 as an amateur.
