As they gear up for a playoff run that currently sees them as the betting favorites to win the Super Bowl, the Buffalo Bills added veteran pass catcher Cole Beasley to their practice squad roster this week. Beasley, 33 years old, previously played with the Bills from 2019 to 2022.

Speaking to ESPN, Beasley addressed the end of his time in Buffalo, which saw him request a trade earlier this year. Unable to find a trade, Beasley was ultimately released and briefly resurfaced with the Tampa Bay Bucs practice squad before ultimately deciding to “retire.”

“The last two years were difficult on everybody. I don’t really want to go into all of the things we talked about, me and Brandon and Coach McDermott, but there needed to be some conversations there that we needed to have. I’m just happy that we all could that as men and talk about it and resolve issues,” Beasley said.

Nobody’s perfect. I didn’t handle everything how I wanted to and a lot of that was a big reason I wanted to come back as well. It’s really the internet world because outside of that there was nothing negative for the most part.” [via ESPN]

To close out the 2022 season, the Buffalo Bills — who are currently the #1 seed in the AFC and will therefore have a bye week during the Wild Card round — will take on the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals (in what could be an AFC Championship game preview), and New England Patriots. Given Beasley’s veteran experience, you’d imagine that the Bills will find a way to make sure he’s on their active roster come playoff time.

Signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent back in 2012, Beasley has racked up 554 catches for 5,726 yards, and 54 touchdowns during his decade-long NFL career.
