College baseball is back. It has been 343 days since the 2020 schedule came to an abrupt ending due to COVID-19 and teams got back on the diamond for the first time on Friday. Florida is the nation’s top-ranked program entering the season, followed by UCLA, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Texas and TCU to round out the top 10. There will be an interesting dichotomy this year as newly-minted freshman are competing with second-year seniors who returned after an extra year of eligibility was granted by the NCAA because of coronavirus.

If you’re new to the amateur side of the sport, welcome. For those of us in the SEC, college baseball is a religion. It’s electric.

While there is a lack of polarizing prospect like Spencer Torkelson or Austin Martin this season, Gators leadoff hitter Jud Fabian will be your player to watch at the plate. He was hitting .294/.407/.603 with 5 HR and 13 RBI in 18 games before the stoppage and will be the first college bat off the board in the MLB Draft if he can keep those numbers up.

On the mound, it’s a different story. Commodores ace Kumar Rocker is lights out and has expectations for continued dominance. He went 12-5 with a 3.25 ERA in 2019 and allowed only three earned runs in 15 innings pitched last year. He could be the first name called in June.

As schools got back on the road to Omaha, they had nearly a full year to prepare this season’s hype video and the results did not disappoint. I could sit here and watch them all day, so I thought I’d put them all in one place for the other junkies like me.

Before we begin, I have to share my all-time favorite video of from 2019. It’s my article, so I can show as much bias as I want, but I promise that it will give you chills too.

Okay, back to the 2021 season. We’re kicking things off with the Rebs again, because THE BOYS ARE BUZZIN’!!!
