Former USF and Kansas State guard Selton Miguel is one of the most efficient college basketball players to enter the transfer portal thus far this offseason. His departure will have a major impact on the program he leaves behind.

It is also effecting one of his classmates.

UPDATE: Miguel confirmed that he isn’t leaving until the end of the semester! Don’t worry!!

I’m still here until may I’m still going to class till may 3rd the project is due tomorrow and I’m always in class I don’t leave until I graduate please stop with this narrative!!

Miguel, a senior, was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2020 and committed to play for the Wildcats out of West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Fla. He played in 54 games over two seasons and averaged 7.2 points per game.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound sophomore chose to enter the transfer portal and landed at USF. Miguel played 66 games for the Bulls with 16 starts. This past season was his most impressive.

He averaged 14.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 28.5 minutes per game. However, it was his 41.1% shooting and 39% three-point percentage that was especially impressive.

Selton Miguel entered the transfer portal for a second time (and declared for the NBA Draft) on April 5. His decision to play his final season of eligibility at Maryland was announced on Tuesday.

That left his classmate with quite the predicament. They have a group project due tomorrow.

‘VJ’ took some responsibility for waiting all semester and leaving the project for the day before. He says that it is an “NCAA tourney breakdown” and does not plan to sleep tonight.

Unless Miguel plans to finish out the academic semester before his move to College Park, he will not be helping VJ. The transfer portal is not only effecting USF’s lineup, it is having an extremely unexpected and unacknowledged impact on the non-athlete student body.

We wish VJ the best of luck with his solo(?) project. Hopefully there are other group members who can help get it done!
