Anyone who’s been waiting more than a decade to get their college football video game fix probably knows the drought will finally come to an end at some point this summer, and we may now know exactly when we can expect College Football 25 to come out.

It’s been close to two months since the College Football 25 hype train officially left the station after the folks at EA Sports dropped a teaser for the long-awaited revival of a franchise that was tragically taken from us when a Supreme Court ruling led to the publisher shutting things down after releasing the most recent installment in 2013.

Since then, we’ve been treated to a steady trickle of information concerning what we can expect. At this point, we know College Football 25 will feature all 134 FBS programs, more than 10,000 players who’ve accepted an NIL deal to appear in the game, and a stacked lineup of broadcasters who’ve put in a ton of work to record their lines ahead of the game’s release.

The timeline for that release, however, is still a bit of a mystery. EA Sports has simply stated College Football 25 will be coming out at some point in the summer, which is a pretty broad window for people who’d prefer to know when they need to request to take a few days off of work sooner rather than later.

Thankfully, it looks like we may have an answer courtesy of Matt Brown, who has done a fantastic job covering the production of the game with the Extra Points newsletter that’s worth keeping an eye on if you want to keep tabs on the latest developments.

In his latest edition, Brown said he’s spoken to “multiple people with knowledge of the project at the company” who’ve told him the release date for College Football 25 is tentatively slated for Friday, July 19th (video game companies traditionally drop projects on Tuesdays, although I think many people who will buy the game would love to see it come out right before the weekend).

It’s very likely the release date will be revealed when the first gameplay trailer comes out, which Brown says is probably going to happen on May 16th.

In the immortal words of Bart Scott: CAN’T WAIT!
