College Football Lock Of The Week: Florida vs. Vanderbilt

The Pick: Florida -31.5

Vanderbilt is the worst team in the SEC and it’s not close. Yes, the Commodores almost squeaked out a win against Kentucky last week, but adding yet another deflating loss makes their matchup against Florida this weekend even that much more enticing.

It’s been a brutal season for Derek Mason and the ‘Dores and it isn’t going to get any better with the Gators in town on Saturday. Florida enters this matchup on a roll after putting up 63 points against Arkansas a week ago. While Florida lost its only true road game of the season against Texas A&M a few weeks ago, don’t let the fact that this game is on the road scare you away from the Gators and the 31.5 points.

While Vandy doesn’t have the worst defense in the SEC, that title belongs to Ole Miss, it’s still allowing almost 36 points per game. With Florida averaging just shy of 46 points per game, it’ll be a long afternoon for Vanderbilt trying to stop Kyle Trask and Florida’s deep backfield.

Vandy is just 3-3-0 against the spread, which isn’t great seeing as how it’s faced huge numbers like its getting again this week. Florida has taken care of business going 4-2-0 against the spread this season and should have no trouble extending that record against a deflated Vandy squad that has had a number of players opt out this season and those who are still suiting up having not a whole lot to play for.
