While West Virginia is coming off of a tough 17-3 loss at Texas, this is an entirely different team on the road than it is at home. The Mountaineers are 4-0 in Morgantown and 0-3 in road contests so far this season. It’s almost like this team forgets how to play defense on the road, but on their own turf they’ve allowed fewer than 260 yards in their four wins.

West Virginia’s defense, the best in the Big 12 this season giving up just 271 yards per game, will be the difference-maker in this one. This ‘Neers offense isn’t too shabby either averaging 450 yards per game, the second-most in the conference. Jarret Doege is finding his stride under center with six touchdowns and just one interception over the last four games.

The name of the game in this pick is to keep it simple, stupid. Could this game turn into a shootout? Sure, it’s the Big 12, but I think the WVU defense is good enough to rely on to get enough stops and create a couple of turnovers against a bit of a lackluster TCU offense. The Horned Frogs like to control tempo by pounding the rock, but they won’t have that luxury when trying to play catch up in this one.

The ‘Neers at home are a lock this weekend.
