Maryland and Nebraska played the most boring quarter in the history of college football on Saturday. Neither team scored. Neither team reached the red zone.

They combined for zero points on 33 plays in 15 minutes. Here’s how it went:

  • END OF 1ST QUARTER

That was it. That was the entire first quarter.

Maryland gained a total of 58 yards. Nebraska gained a total of 34 yards.

The most exciting play of the first 15 minutes was an interception that ultimately led to a punt.

Cornhuskers fans have sold out Memorial Stadium in 395 consecutive games. 85,000+ fans packed into the stands to watch a first quarter that saw less than 100 yards on just three (and one play) possessions and zero points.

To make matters worse, it was a morning game so everybody was up early to tailgate. They were forced to try and keep their eyes open during the most boring quarter of football in a game of two 5-4 teams.

If that wasn’t bad enough, only seven points were scored during the first half. The Terrapins scored a touchdown during the second quarter to go up 7-0. It was a really rough start to the day for the home team and the fans who were subjected to such a terrible college football product.

The Big Ten is often extremely boring. Saturday in Lincoln was pretty terrible.

Yawn. Major yawn.
