There has been a lot of dialogue about the lack of size on the college football team at Colorado. Although first-year offensive coordinator Brennan Marion is not concerned about the outside noise, the monstrous offensive line at Texas should be more than enough reason for him to worry.
The Longhorns make the Buffaloes look like middle schoolers.
Height and weight (or lack thereof) is going to be a legitimate issue for the latter during the 2026 college football season. They do not look like a team that can win a national title.
Colorado is fighting against its (lack of) size, again.
Deion Sanders is entering his fourth year as the head coach at the University of Colorado. The 58-year-old Hall of Famer has only one winning season in each of the last three. The Buffaloes went from 9-4 in 2024 to 3-9 in 2025. It was a disaster.
This year’s roster will look completely different. Colorado added 43 (!!) incoming transfers to its roster during the offseason, including multiple four-star prospects. However, it lost just as much talent to the portal as it added.
One of the biggest question marks surrounding the Buffaloes is their lack of size. They had to push back on a video from the spring game that went extremely viral for all of the wrong reasons. Even if there is an element of truth to the height and weight narrative, they do have some absolute dudes on the roster. Not every player on the team is as small as the skill players.
Unfortunately, Colorado is right back to where it was in the fall— on the defense. Early videos from preseason practice do not dispel the size concerns. The Buffaloes do not look like a big team.
Offensive coordinator Brennan Marion is sick and tired of the chatter. He wants to spot the ball and go head-to-head. His go-go offense is going to leave your defense in the dust. His players, no matter how big or small, are going to score.
Texas looks like a college football team.
The University of Texas is on the opposite end of the size spectrum. Every new video out of Austin during the first day of fall camp was more impressive than the one before. The Longhorns do not lack in height or weight.
One specific video caught the eyes of college football fans all over the country. It presents a stark contrast to Colorado.

Fortunately, the Buffaloes play in the Big 12 and not the SEC. Unfortunately, to win a national championship, the Buffaloes will have to play against teams outside of their conference.
I don’t know whether Colorado is going to finish undefeated or below .500. Marion has a system that works. JuJu Lewis is a highly-touted quarterback prospect. The defense can’t be much worse.
With that being said, the size thing is real. The Buffaloes can say what they want. The proof is on the field, just look at a team like Texas.
