Carson Mott, a three-star edge rusher who committed to Colorado in June, says Deion Sanders pulled his scholarship offer after he was hired.

Monday night, Mott announced on Twitter, “Just spoke to the new Colorado staff and was informed they would not be honoring my commitment. I am officially re-opening my recruitment.”

Sanders has only officially been in the position of Colorado Buffaloes’ head football coach since Saturday.

Nothing like being told your very important college scholarship no longer exists just a few months short of your high school graduation, right?

Mott reportedly had received offers from Cal, Fresno State, Nevada and Princeton before choosing Colorado. Hopefully, there are still roster opening and scholarships still available to him.

There are expected to be a lot of changes in the Buffaloes’ roster in the coming months.

Sanders has already anointed his son Shedeur as Colorado’s new starting quarterback. He was also reportedly busy recruiting top transfer portal players before he even accepted the Colorado job.

After being a dominating force in the Pac 12 in the 90s and early 2000s, the Buffs have fallen on hard times, posting 15 losing seasons in the last 17 years.

The hiring of Deion Sanders as the program’s new coach is already paying dividends as 15-year-old five-star wide receiver prospect Winston Watkins at the IMG Academy in Florida has already committed to Colorado… and he hasn’t ever even visited the state, let alone the campus.

“Really, the biggest reason is Deion Sanders,” Watkins told USA Today in a phone interview on Monday, one day after Sanders’ introductory press conference. “I always wanted to be one of his players.”

Deion Sanders is also making some major changes to the Colorado football program’s coaching staff. The latest rumor has former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer coming to Boulder to be the Buffs’ new defensive coordinator.
