Colts’ key defender defensive tackle Grover Stewart has been slapped with a six-game suspension for breaking the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Stewart’s suspension kicked off today and he won’t be back in action until Monday, December 4, just in time for Week 14.

A fourth-round pick of the Colts in 2017, Stewart has been a consistent player for Indianapolis, racking up impressive stats including 8.5 sacks in 102 games, 259 tackles, 27 tackles for a loss, and 32 quarterback hits.

During his time away, the Colts will have to do without him in games against the Browns, Saints, Panthers, Patriots, Buccaneers, and Titans.

Expressing his remorse, Stewart took to Instagram, saying, “I want to apologize to the National Football League, the Colts organization, my teammates, our fans, and my family. I was surprised and disappointed to learn I had violated the policy. I respect the integrity of the game and would never purposefully put myself or the team in this kind of situation. I am responsible for what I put in my body, and I should have taken the proper steps to educate myself. I will learn from this moving forward, and I will take the appropriate measures to ensure this never happens again.”

The Colts will need to try to figure it out without him. They’re already missing starting quarterback, rookie Anthony Richardson, possibly for the season with a shoulder injury.
