Steelers fans are going to have a significant influence on the crowd at FedEx Field Northwest Stadium during Sunday’s NFL game against the Commanders. However, the host team is using a big brain giveaway to suppress some of their impact.

Washington is going to make it seem like the influx of Terrible Towels are actually part of the home field advantage!

Pittsburgh’s fanbase is known to travel. Yinzers show out in mass for every game during the regular season, regardless of their team’s record. For example, Allegiant Stadium looked more like a Steelers home game than a Raiders home game during their matchup in Las Vegas last month.

It will likely be a similar scene in Landover this weekend. Both teams are at the top of their respective divisions with only two losses. Russell Wilson is balling. Jayden Daniels is on pace to be named as the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

There is going to be a large number of visiting fans in the crowd and they are going to bring their Terrible Towels. While they might look like yellow rags to the untrained eye, the Terrible Towel is one of Pittsburgh’s most sacred traditions and the city will not tolerate any disrespect.

The Commanders are not going to ban the towels. They are not going to show any disrespect.

However, they are going to integrate the away crowd into their home field advantage.

Washington’s primary colors are burgundy and gold. Terrible Towels are gold— ish. Steelers fans are going to wave their terrible towels alongside new burgundy towels, which will be presented to every single person in the stadium.

This is brilliant.

The Terrible Towels are going to blend right in! A sea of gold is going to look right at home, literally, alongside a mass of burgundy.
