Fans of the Washington Commanders didn’t have a lot to root for during Dan Snyder’s time as the owner of a franchise that was plagued by dysfunction and the litany of scandals that ultimately led to the widely reviled billionaire opting to sell the team after caving to years of ever-increasing pressure.
That transaction was finalized when the offer submitted by the ownership group led by Josh Harris was officially approved earlier this month, and it seems like some major changes could be in store based on what some members of the new regime have said about their vision for the future.
It’s clear fans of the team are pretty optimistic when you consider the Commanders have already surpassed the revenue they generated from ticket sales over the entirety of the 2022 campaign, and Harris has shown getting in the good graces of the team’s supporters is a top priority.
While fans who’d made the trek to training camp during Snyder’s reign had to bring their own chairs with them if they wanted a place to sit (aside from the ground) during their time there, that’s no longer the case thanks to the bleachers that were erected at the team’s facility in Ashburn, Virginia prior to the start of public summer practices.
can’t wait to see these stands full 🤩

While that’s far from the only factor that’s led to a renewed increase in training camp (the Commanders have also done away with the $10 charge that was previously levied for a training camp experience that’s now free), it probably didn’t hurt to foster the impressive turnout we’ve been treated to so far.

Nothing really sums up the immediate impact of the sale quite like a viral picture comparing the virtually nonexistent crowd the Commanders attracted in 2022 to the massive horde of fans that are gathered there this year, which is one of the starker contrasts you’ll ever see.
The team still has a fair amount of work to do in its quest to return to its former glory, but this is certainly a very solid start.
