Cooper Flagg has high expectations for Duke during his first season of college basketball. The top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2024 made a bold promise to fans while reaffirming his commitment.

He is headed to Durham, despite what the chatter on social media might theorize.

At 6-foot-9, 195 pounds, Flagg is committed to play forward for the Blue Devils next year. There are high expectations for the Gatorade Player of the Year to take The Brotherhood to the next level.

It is his vow to do so.

Flagg played in the McDonald’s All-American game on Tuesday night and dropped eight points with six rebounds and three assists. His solid performance was enough to get Duke fans even more excited for his arrival than they already are.

However, it was what he said while in Houston that really got the blood pumping!

The message was in response to his future program’s loss to N.C. State in the Elite Eight. Flagg promised that “fans who are hurt” can “look forward to a lot of success” next season.

He boldly pledged to “make it as far.”

Write that down!

Cooper Flagg promised that Duke will be in the Elite Eight next year. He said those words.

By nature of the program to which he is committed, there are a lot of people who are already rooting against the nation’s top recruit. Flagg will be a villain in college basketball next year.

For him to already put such outward assurances into the universe is going to make the haters even louder. He made a guarantee that will not soon be forgotten.

Flagg is going to try and get some of Duke’s top talent to run it back for his freshman season.

So, to his credit, if the retention efforts are a success, there is no reason that the Blue Devils should not be back in the Elite Eight. If they don’t get there, the jokes will be endless.
