ACC Down Bad As CW Network Cuts Away From Historic College Football Upset For Tim Allen Sitcom

For some unknown reason, the Atlantic Coast Conference partnered with the CW Network to air 13 college football games throughout the 2023 season and it created a hilarious cutaway after Virginia’s win over North Carolina on Saturday. Tim Allen reruns took priority over the postgame celebration.

At 1-5, the Cavaliers traveled to Chapel Hill for a conference game against the 10th-ranked Tar Heels. The home team was 23.5-point favorites after the visitors lost to Tennessee, James Madison, Maryland, North Carolina State and Boston College, and scraped out a 27-13 win over William & Mary in which just seven points were scored during the second half.

Very few people expected Virginia to beat Heisman Trophy candidate Drake Maye and UNC. Some sports betting analysts went so far as to say that there was value on the Tar Heels at -23.5.

They were wrong!

The Cavaliers offense kept pace throughout the night and pulled off the first road win over an AP Top 10 team in school history. A clutch interception with less than 50 seconds left sealed the deal and the party was on!

Second-year head coach Tony Elliott was extremely proud of his team after the upset. Unfortunately, viewers at home never got to find that out.

The CW Network sideline reporter got ahold of Elliott on the field after the game. Before he could even finish his first question, the game broadcast faded out.

Rather than showing Elliott’s postgame interview after a monumental upset win, CW cut to a rerun episode of Tim Allen’s sitcom β€˜Last Man Standing,’ which aired its last episode in 2021.

Welcome to college football in 2023. The ACC aired a top-ten team on the CW Network and gets bumped in favor of a sitcom that probably gets better ratings than the game itself!
