Victims of Daejon Love have begun to speak out
Victims of Daejon Love, the 35-year-old man who told at least 26 women he was a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and allegedly used that lie to defraud them of a combined $1.3 million, have begun to speak out.
Daejon Love was arrested on August 24 and charged with wire fraud. According to federal prosecutors, he operated a romance scam over multiple years using dating apps, fake social media profiles, 49ers gear, staged football videos, and an accomplice posing as his financial advisor to build credibility with victims.
He allegedly referenced real NFL players including Jordan Love and Tyreek Hill to make his fabricated career seem more plausible.

The victims, many of whom share similar physical characteristics, all detailed a consistent M.O. from Love: promises of luxury experiences and investment opportunities including equity stakes in companies like Gucci, private chefs, Dave and Buster’s dates, and rented luxury cars used to simulate wealth.
Several victims also described him presenting himself as a principled, faith-based man before the financial requests began.
“One woman said he told her his family developed luxury communities, hotels and malls, held majority stakes in three Gucci stores and owned “65 percent equity” in both Calabasas and Belvedere. He was, in this version, a vice president in the family company, with a live-in head of security, bodyguards and a private chef. He had just paid $4.5 million cash for a house. Then the props: nearly $1 million in cars, a $300,000 Richard Mille, tens of thousands in jewelry, $50,000 veneers, an $8,000 bed, an $8,000 television.” [via BSO]

An anonymous Instagram account — operating since August 2024 under the handle user912403690 — had been tracking Love’s alleged activities for years before his arrest, collecting testimonials from victims and publishing them with consent for awareness purposes.
The account links to ic3.gov for reporting. Following the arrest, the account’s operator posted a message thanking everyone who had supported the effort over the years and expressing relief that law enforcement had apprehended Love.
“After years of waiting, those of us who have been affected are relieved to finally receive news of this development,” the account posted.
Love now faces charges of faces federal charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and his 18-year-old accomplice Taylor Chan was also arrested.
