The Dallas Cowboys are in a whirlwind of hurt this season after Dak Prescott suffered a rather serious injury. He’s due to be out for six to eight weeks. However, Jerry Jones has different plans for the veteran quarterback and it has the fanbase concerned.

Jerry Jones Refuses To Put Dak Prescott On IR In Hopes He Returns Sooner Than Expected

The Cowboys’ owner might be a bit too optimistic about the situation. During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jerry Jones claims he “will not put Dak Prescott on IR with the belief he can return in the next four games.” Considering Prescott is not expected back between six to eight weeks with a thumb injury.

Luckily for Dak Prescott, it sounds like the surgery on his thumb was successful, per Tom Pelissero. For that reason, his adjusted timetable is a bit more optimistic, as it sounds like he could return by Week 9. If that’s the case, then Jerry Jones could be rushing his star quarterback too soon.

We’ll see how it plays out. Dallas is more than likely to run with Cooper Rush at quarterback for the time being. Despite the speculation for the Cowboys to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. “America’s Team” has suffered some adversity to begin the 2022 season, but it’s not over until the fat lady sings. With Tyron Smith and Dak Prescott missing valuable time, things could get dicey for this franchise.

Look for Dallas to do everything possible to remain competitive in Dak Prescott’s absence. If they can manage to stay within reach of first place in the NFC East, then they could still have a chance to make the playoffs. However, Jerry Jones’ optimism could potentially hurt Prescott and the franchise even further.
