Nov 12, 2017; Atlanta, GA, USA; Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant (88) on the sideline in the fourth quarter against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Former Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant was involved in a scary incident over the weekend that allegedly ended with him being held at gunpoint by police officers in front of his daughters.
According to Bryant, the incident occurred following an altercation with two men whom he accused of reckless driving in Southlake, a suburb of Dallas. One of the two men then threatened to pull a gun on Bryant, but ultimately ended up pulling out his phone to film before the police were called.
That’s when things went sideways.
According to a report from Jackson Thompson of OutKick, footage provided to the site by Bryant showed an officer aiming a gun in his direction as he lay on the ground in handcuffs alongside the two other men.
“I was really more so concerned about my children, you know, looking at their dad, you know, being on the ground with a gun pointed at me,” Bryant said of the incident.

According to Bryant, he accused the two other men of driving recklessly and cutting him off en route to the same restaurant that Bryant was headed to.
The parties then argued, leading to one of the men threatening to pull a firearm.
“He go to threatening me and basically saying, um, he’ll insinuate that he’ll, you know, he’ll shoot me or whatever,” Bryant said.
“You pull that gun, I’m telling you right now, you better use it because if you don’t I’m going to do something to you,” Bryant said he told the man.
The man never pulled out a gun, instead pulling out his phone, which Bryant admits he then pushed away. The man then threatened to call the police, which Bryant says he encouraged.
The responding officer then drew his weapon on all three men before Bryant’s girlfriend and daughters arrived.
“I get on the ground,” Bryant said. “My lady pulled up, she got my children, and they seen everything that’s going on.”
Bryant stated that officers handcuffed the men, questioned them, and placed him in a police vehicle before releasing him with the citation. The other men were also allowed to leave.
“I would rather you guys take us all down to the police station and do the proper investigation instead of just taking somebody else’s side,” Bryant said. “I felt like it was very one-sided.”
Thankfully, nobody was harmed, and Bryant said he has a positive relationship with local police, including an officer with his son’s high school football team.
“Every time I see him, we talk ball. We just talk about the regular things,” Bryant said of that officer. “It’s always been good. This situation was just extremely unfortunate.”
