Since Dalvin Cook was released by the Minnesota Vikings, there have been 3 teams leading the way to try and sign him.

Those 3 teams are the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins.

Each one of the AFC East representatives has had signs point to them being the team that would sign Cook over that time.

The Dolphins were the early frontrunner to land the star running back, but nothing came of that and Cook hasn’t even had a visit with the team.

More recently, it seemed like the Patriots could be the team to get him after he visited the organization.

Now the Jets seem to have taken a commanding lead in the race for Dalvin Cook.

Cook is set to visit the team this weekend and all signs have been pointing to that being the last visit he needs to take.

The Jets have become a sizable betting favorite to land Cook and now he has expressed that the move seems likely.

While appearing on “Good Morning Football” today, Cook said the odds are “pretty high” that he signs with the Jets.

This would be a pretty surprising outcome for Cook.

From the start, the Dolphins have been the best fit and he even called their offense a perfect fit for him earlier in the offseason. They also don’t have another option that would take a lot of carries from Cook.

Meanwhile, the New York Jets have Breece Hall, who they drafted early in the second round last year. Before his injury, he looked like he was going to establish himself as one of the NFL’s best running backs in his rookie season.

Adding Cook to their backfield would really cap the upside for either running back.

However, it would also give the Jets a whole lot of offensive firepower as they try to maximize their chances at winning with Aaron Rodgers.

It looks like Dalvin Cook’s free agency could end with him teaming up with his former NFC North rival.
