Count former Super Bowl-winning and New York Jets offensive lineman as a believer in Aaron Rodgers.

Speaking to reporter Eric Allen of The Official Jets Podcast, Woody — who played with the Jets from 2008 to 2010 after previously spending time in Detroit and New England (where he won Super Bowl titles) — said that acquiring the 39-year-old four-time MVP will “breathe life” into the entire franchise.

The Jets, of course, could desperately use a breath of fresh air in the organization as the team are the current owners of the longest postseason drought in the NFL.

“It kind of takes me back to my time with the Jets when Brett Favre got traded. We were in the preseason and on the road in Cleveland and you kept hearing these whispers, like, ‘We made a move, we made a move.’ And then the next thing we know, Favre walks into the conference room. And when you make moves like that, it brings a whole different energy, whole different vibe to your team,” Woody explained.

“Because I’m pretty sure these guys on the roster now are looking at this season like, ‘we got a first-ballot Hall of Famer at the quarterback position.’ And what it does is when you start playing these games you feel like you can beat anyone. That’s not the case with a lot of teams. But when you have a quarterback the caliber of Aaron Rodgers, it’s just it breathes life into your whole team.”

The Jets are going to need more than just energy from Rodgers if they’re going to make the playoffs, though, as the team — which heads into the 2023 season with Super Bowl expectations — isn’t even favored to win their own division, as the Buffalo Bills have claimed the AFC East for the last three seasons and are betting favorites to do so again this year.

Gang Green is going to find out of they have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the AFC’s elite as their first game of the season is a Monday Night Football matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
