Oregon head football coach Dan Lanning has become the butt of jokes this week for his display on the baseball field. Lanning was seen tossing an awful first pitch attempt from the mound at a recent Ducks game.

Clips of the pitch have now begun to circulate on social media leading to a fantastic reaction from sports fans.

Lanning completed his first season with the Ducks this past year, going 10-3 in his head coaching debut. That included a 7-2 mark in the PAC-12 as Oregon just missed out on a conference championship game appearance.

They’d go on to win the Holiday Bowl over North Carolina, 28-27, with quarterback Bo Nix leading a dramatic last-second comeback.

While things are looking up on the gridiron for Dan Lanning and Co., the opposite can be said for the diamond.

The coach was given an opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a recent Oregon baseball game, and he failed miserably.

Lanning not only bounced his pitch, but he sailed it wide into the batter’s box, too. Fans online were quick to react.

One person wrote, “He’s a football coach for a reason.” Another said, “Oregon has been eliminated from playoff contention.”

This fan commented, “One of the most embarrassing first pitches by a head coach in recent memory.”

The response was far from through.

Tough look for Dan Lanning. Hopefully the Ducks leader can shake it off as he continues his offseason.
