After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated from the NFL Playoffs, the football began speculating about what Tom Brady’s future would hold. For the most part, it seemed the debate was over whether he would retire or return for another season with the Bucs. However, it turns out there may have been another option for Brady.

While speaking to TMZ Sports in advance of today’s UFC Fight Night, Dana White revealed he was trying to convince Brady to come back for another season, but with a new team.

“I was hammering him to come to Vegas.”

Dana White wanted Brady to come quarterback the local team of his adopted home in Vegas and it seems like he at least had some hope at first.

“I was firing texts to him and he sent very cryptic text messages. He had me thinking he wasn’t going to retire. So, you know what I was doing? I was hammering him to come to Vegas and play for the Raiders.”

It’s not an idea that had been given much thought before, but it would have been intriguing to see play out. The Las Vegas Raiders were a playoff team this season with Derek Carr in spite of all kinds of chaos in the organization.

The Raiders offense also boasts a couple of weapons that may meshed well with Tom Brady. Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller fit the mold of some of Brady’s favorite weapons from throughout his career.

Some Raiders fans might not have been thrilled with the move, though. The Raiders were on the losing end of Brady’s “Tuck Rule” game and some fans still haven’t recovered from that loss.

Unfortunately, Brady’s official retirement means we’ll never get to see how a season with the Las Vegas Raiders would have played out. Now we’ll just have to see who will actually be the QB for the Raiders next season.
