Former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress compared playing for the New York Jets to being in prison (since he has experience doing both). Darrelle Revis, arguably the best player the franchise has ever had, was quick to clap back.
During a recent appearance on Lil Wayne’s The Joint Venture Show, former Super Bowl-winning NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress discussed his 20-month prison sentence following his 2008 conviction for illegal gun possession and compared his experience to his time playing for the New York Jets.
“Going to prison, every day you wake up feeling like a loser. It felt like playing for the Jets,” Burress said.

Burress played just one season for the Jets in 2011 — he was brought in to replace Braylon Edwards as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Santonio Holmes — which wound up being his final productive season before he retired in 2013, as he had 45 catches for 612 yards and eight receiving touchdowns in 16 games.
One of Burress’ teammates on that 2011 Jets squad was Hall of Fame cornerback Darrelle Revis, who was quick to clap back at Burress by saying that the Jets “should have never signed him.”

Burress’ comments, while accurate in the context of general Jets history, are misleading as far as the season he spent with them goes. The team was coming off back-to-back AFC title games and was playing under supremely confident head coach Rex Ryan.
While they ultimately missed out on the playoffs, they were still playing competitive football well into December as they entered a Week 15 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles with an 8-5 record before a three-game losing streak to close out the season cost them a postseason berth. All told, Burress really has no idea what true Jets misery is like.
