Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce was recently seen reacting to a post on social media relating to Davante Adams‘ future with the organization. Pierce, who is in his first full season as the team’s leader, “liked” a message suggesting that his star wide receiver had played his last snap in Las Vegas.
A firestorm of speculation ensued, with many foreseeing a split between the two parties.
Adams has been on the sidelines in Las Vegas 2+ seasons, but talks of a departure have surrounded his time in Sin City. Much of that discussion insists a reconnection with Aaron Rodgers in New York is the end goal.
The pair has spoken on their relationship in the past, which dates back to their time as teammates in Green Bay.
Adams reportedly recruited Rodgers to join him in Las Vegas in 2023. He’d ultimately miss out on a reunion, though the quarterback was recently heard stating that he “can’t wait” to play with his pass catcher once again.
Does Adams’ future include Aaron Rodgers? Time will tell.
At the moment, the focus more closely relates to the receiver’s future with the Raiders.
Davante Adams hasn’t heard from Antonio Pierce!
Even with speculation growing surrounding Adams’ potential departure, his head coach hasn’t reached out.
“I haven’t talked to him,” Adams said when asked how quickly his coach reached out. “I don’t really know what that was about. Obviously, I’ve got social media… There’s a lot of people out there that saw it, and people reaching out wondering what’s going on. I haven’t spoken to him.”
Interesting….
Pierce’s silence has only fueled speculation, leading to some unnecessary drama in Year 1. We’ll see if the head coach gives some sort of clarity on the situation soon.
