The Dayton basketball team took down A10 rival St. Joe’s then rubbed salt in the wound of their opposition. Not only did the Flyers leave Philadelphia with a convincing 15-point road win, but they effectively disrespected the home crowd with some late game antics.

Things got off to a slow start for the Flyers as they fell behind by double figures early in the first half, and that St. Joe’s crowd was letting the visitors have it.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, the offense went cold shortly thereafter.

After jumping out to that 23-12 lead midway through the first half, SJU was held scoreless for nearly five minutes. Dayton took advantage, claiming a 24-23 lead.

The matchup remained back and forth over the next 10 minutes of play before the Flyers took total control. Dayton outscored St. Joes’ 60-41 after the halftime break turning a close game into a blowout.

To add an exclamation point on the victory, and maybe quiet that once raucous crowd, Dayton guard Kobe Elvis hit a disrespectful three-pointer from the logo as the final seconds ticked from the clock.

After seeing the ball swish through the net, Elvis’s teammates blew kisses and waved goodbye to the crowd.

The Flyers fully embraced the villain role on Tuesday en route to their 19th win of the season.

With the victory, Dayton holds sole possession of first place in the Atlantic 10 conference race. St. Joe’s fell to 5-5 in league play and 15-8 on the season.
