After just a few months as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, Deion Sanders and the transfer portal have already become one of college football’s great duos.
He has brought in the year’s best transfer class and has also had a ton of players head for the transfer portal.
Now it looks like he could be adding another star to his loaded transfer class.
According to 247 Sports’ Chris Hummer, the Buffaloes are the favorites to land running back Alton McCaskill, who began his college career at Houston.

There were plenty of reasons why the Colorado Buffaloes were a bad football team last year and the running game was definitely one of those reasons.
During the 2022 season, the Buffaloes actually ran the ball more than they threw it, but didn’t actually find much success on the ground. They averaged just 3.4 yards per carry on 32.3 attempts per game.
Those struggles definitely contributed to the team scoring college football’s 5th least points at just 15.4 points per game.
Luckily, Sanders has already taken some big steps toward remedying those running issues.
He already landed a 4-star recruit at running back and could now add McCaskill to the backfield as well.
Mccaskill was a standout running back for Houston as a freshman back in 2021. In his first college season, he ran for 961 yards and 16 touchdowns on an average of 5.1 yards per carry. He even tacked on 21 catches for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns for a Houston squad that won 12 games.
He unfortunately didn’t get the chance to follow that season up as he missed his entire sophomore season with a knee injury.
Now he finds himself looking for a new team whose backfield he can lead and it’s looking like Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are the favorites to be that team.
