Prior to catching the game-tying touchdown, Colorado Buffalos wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. was struggling against Colorado State University on Saturday night.

During a recent interview with Taylor Rooks, University of Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders revealed what he told Horn in order to spark his performance to life, saying that he painted a picture for Horn of his father watching him from jail.

“Jimmy was having a horrific game. And I said, ‘Jimmy, you’re a dawg. You’re from Florida, man. And guess what? Pop is at the crib, he’s incarcerated, he’s watching you right now. He wants to clap in front of all his different inmates because he believes in his son. We gonna make pops proud tonight. That’s what we gonna do, because his son is a DAWG,” Sanders tells Rooks in a clip that’s been going viral on social media.

Despite being favored by 23 points, the game between the Buffalos and the Rams went into double-overtime, with Sanders’ University of Colorado eventually walking away victorious by a score of 43-35.

Alongside his game-tying touchdown, Horn Jr. had seven catches for 66 yards in the game.

Sanders and his University of Colorado Buffaloes football team will face their biggest challenge of the season so far when they take on the 10th-ranked University of Oregon Ducks this weekend. At this time, two days before the game kicks off, the Ducks are favored over Sanders’ Buffaloes by 21 points.

With PAC-12 conference play now beginning, Sanders’ team will truly be tested, as they play a ranked opponent in six of their final nine games, including a matchup against 5th-ranked USC to close out September.
