Deion Sanders had to have two toes amputated earlier this year, and he’s now shown them on camera for the first time. And yes, it’s as gnarly as it sounds.

Coach Prime showed off the results of his recent surgery while making an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast.

According to an article from NFL.com, Sanders’ amputation occurred due to blood clots stemming from a previous surgery.

Deion Sanders had two toes on his left foot amputated due to blood clots stemming from a previous surgery… Sanders was hospitalized for around a month in the middle of last season when the Tigers finished 11-2.

He had a dislocated toe along with an inflamed nerve… As he healed, his toes began to darken under the bandages.

The 54-year-old Sanders underwent several surgeries. He developed a femoral arterial blood clot. He also had compartment syndrome, where his leg swelled up, and doctors had to flay open his leg to drain fluid. Sanders later had his big toe and the second toe amputated.

The recently named Colorado coach went into deeper detail about that surgery with Shannon Sharpe, and of course, showed off the end result.

Coach Prime says that doctors nearly had to take his whole leg before deciding that two toes would suffice. He had the perfect response to the choice of losing those two little piggies.

“Take them, I’m good!”

The original surgery caused him to roam the sidelines at Jackson State on a scooter, though he still led the Tigers to an 11-2 season. Deion then recovered from the amputation and took his team to an undefeated regular season in 2022, which opened up an opportunity for Sanders to take the vacancy in Boulder.

He’ll now work on getting a squad together at his new school, and all signs point to him being successful in the PAC 12.

One thing is for sure, though. I’ll never be able to burn this image from my brain.
