It’s been impossible to ignore what Deion Sanders has managed to do for the football program at Jackson State since taking over as the head coach of the Tigers in 2020; he’s already left an indelible mark on the college football landscape over the course of just a couple of seasons and is poised to continue to make noise as he continues to take aim at the status quo.
The fact that Sanders managed to lead Jackson State to an 11-1 record last fall was impressive enough on its own, but knowing Prime Time managed to pull that off while spending more than a month battling a serious foot injury that led to him arriving at his first bowl game on a souped-up scooter makes it even more notable.
As we learned last week, the situation that led to Sanders needing some assistance to get around was far direr than he let on last year, as he recently revealed he spent a month in a hospital where he was subjected to eight surgeries to address complications stemming from a foot issue (and fed a steady diet of the painkillers he had to wean himself off of).
On Tuesday, Sanders gave us a very detailed look at what went down when he posted a preview of the newest episode of the Barstool documentary series Coach Prime, which includes footage of the procedure where he had two toes amputated due to blood clots that formed after surgery targeting a foot injury that could be traced back to his playing career.
WARNING: WHILE SOME OF THE FOOTAGE IS CENSORED, IT’S STILL NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART
What a beast.
