Last offseason, the Denver Broncos found themselves looking for a new head coach after firing Vic Fangio.

A year later, they are right back in the market for a head coach.

Last year, it was Nathaniel Hackett that they ended up hiring after he had a very successful stint as the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers. His first season as a head coach was a disaster.

The Broncos offense was terrible this year and the team’s record struggled as a result, leading to Hackett’s firing before the end of his first season.

This season, it looks like they’ll be looking for some more experience in their new coach.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Broncos have narrowed their search to 3 candidates. Thos candidates are Sean Payton, Jim Harbaugh, and Dan Quinn.

Sean Payton obviously a big name on the Denver Broncos radar… So is Jim Harbaugh. … It does seem like the Broncos have three main candidates: you have Dan Quinn [Cowboys defensive coordinator, you have Sean Payton and you have Jim Harbaugh. As far as Harbaugh and the Broncos, [there’s] some strong mutual interest.

Payton is the biggest name currently available to teams looking for a new head coach and I’m not even sure there is a close second. There are only so many coaches out there who can say they’ve won a Super Bowl and it isn’t often they become available.

However, Harbaugh is another big name with plenty of experience winning football games and had a successful 4 years as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers that included a Super Bowl appearance.

Dan Quinn has a Super Bowl appearance of his own as a head coach and was one of the most popular head coaching candidates in the league last year after he transformed the Dallas Cowboys; defense.
