This offseason, there are two big names that NFL teams can go after if they want to land their next quarterback in free agency.

Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo have both had their contracts expire after lengthy careers with the Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco 49ers respectively.

While Garoppolo has to wait until next week to be able to begin negotiating with teams, Derek Carr has been able to get a head start on finding his next team thanks to the Raiders trying to trade him and then releasing him.

Carr already met with the New Orleans Saints and there were reports that meeting had gone well.

However, it looks like he is going to explore other options as he is reportedly now taking a meeting with another team. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Carr is visiting the New York Jets this weekend.

The sooner Carr can find his next team the better because he could soon have some more competition in the quarterback market.

If Aaron Rodgers decides not to retire, he will become the biggest name available.

Carr also has one thing working against him that the other quarterbacks don’t. He can’t go to the Raiders while Vegas is an option for any other QB.

The Jets would be a great fit for Carr and a better landing spot than the Saints.

The Saints are likely releasing Michael Thomas, they don’t have any cap space, and Alvin Kamara is in legal trouble.

Meanwhile, the Jets will get Breece Hall back next year, have a great defense, can free up cap space, and have young talent for Carr to throw to.

For the Jets, Carr would provide veteran leadership and a huge upgrade at quarterback.

That could be enough for the New York Jets to find their next quarterback this weekend.
