Former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn openly criticized Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson on his Fox Sports Radio show and Watson’s private coach took issue with that, leading to an online feud.

Quinn suggested that everyone with a medical opinion had cleared Watson and compared the situation to a kid with a $230 million trust fund who had no incentive to work.

Deshaun Watson’s private quarterbacks coach, Quincy Avery, fired back at Quinn on twitter: “Brady, I’m gonna be real with you. You don’t know what the heck you’re talking about, and you’re sitting behind a microphone, gossiping like a high school kid.”

The exchange took a more contentious turn when Quinn made a veiled reference to Watson’s previous legal issues regarding sexual misconduct, saying, “How about we massage this conversation and get it to a happy ending? Does that sound satisfactory?”

The heated back-and-forth continued until Quinn concluded with a message suggesting an in-person meeting: “This the joke you were dying to let fly? We can table the convo until I see you in person.”

Quinn’s comments are undeniably sharp, but the precise status of Watson’s health remains unclear.

Despite many believing the Watson-Browns trade was the worst in NFL history, commenting on a player’s willingness to play through injury in the context of increased focus on player health and safety is always a risky move.
