Over the course of his first two seasons in the NFL, Browns tight end Harrison Bryant was the sixth and seventh most-targeted pass-catcher on his team. That looks like it is set to change in 2022 with a new quarterback under center.

During what was the craziest offseason in NFL history, Cleveland made the biggest move. Despite uncertainty whether he will be able to play this fall or not, the Browns traded with the Houston Texans for Deshaun Watson, who has 22 pending civil lawsuits against him.

Should he be allowed to take the field this season, Watson will be the team’s starting quarterback. And the team is operating as if that will be the case.

After sitting out the entire 2021 season, Deshaun Watson returned to the gridiron for the first time during voluntary workouts in Cleveland earlier this month.

Although the team isn’t in pads yet, Watson is getting acclimated with his new teammates. In particular, a video from practice on Monday shows the first look at the new Browns quarterback in action and he threw a dart to tight end Harrison Bryant.

Bryant, who was a fourth-round pick in 2020, was named the top player at his position during his senior year of college. Since arriving in the NFL, his presence has been valuable, but not anything that jumps out off of the page statistically.

In Bryant’s rookie year, he caught 24 passes. Last season, he caught 21.

While in Houston, Watson never completed less than 24 passes to his tight end in each of his three years as the primary starter. In fact, during the 2020 season, Texans tight ends caught a combined 58 passes — which is more than Bryant’s entire career thus far.

Assuming that Watson will be on the field this fall, keep an eye on Bryant to be a big part of the offense during what is slated to be a breakout season. Don’t sleep on the Browns.
