After weeks of rumors, Texans franchise QB Deshaun Watson officially declared that he wants out of Houston less than 24 hours after the team announced the hiring of new coach David Culley on Wednesday night.

On Thursday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that Watson had requested a trade from the team and that the hiring of Culley would not change his mind.

Schefter goes on to report that Watson has not spoken to the new team’s new GM Nick Caserio since he got hired two weeks ago.

The disgruntled Watson has reportedly been upset with the team for not listening to his recommendations on head coaching hirings for the past few months despite being promised by team owner Cal McNair to include him in those conversations.

Last week the Miami Herald reported that the NY Jets was at the top of Watson’s trade destinations because of his admiration of the team’s recently hired head coach Robert Saleh.

Watson this week told people the Jets are his top preference among the teams he’d like to be traded to because they hired Robert Saleh to be their coach and Watson values Saleh so much he wanted the Texans to interview him for their vacant head coach job.

Watson confirmed reports, circulated for several weeks in national media, he’d also welcome playing for the Dolphins but said that is his second choice at this time.”,

The Texans are pretty fortunate that the Jets and Dolphins have a ton of high-value draft picks and both seem interested in trading for Watson this offseason.
