Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has reportedly reached a settlement in a civil lawsuit involving a truck driver who stabbed him during an alleged drunken altercation in October 2025.
Mark Sanchez and Fox Corporation told the judge they had reached a deal in principle, according to court filings submitted to the Southern District of Indiana by attorneys representing truck driver Perry Tole. Tole’s attorneys are expected to move to dismiss the case by January after the settlement is completed and signed.
According to Lauren Conlin of Los Angeles, the terms of the settlement include all pending motions being denied as moot, all previously scheduled deadlines, hearings and trial dates being canceled, and the agreement has not yet resulted in a formal dismissal for Fox Corporation. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“We are pleased with the constructive and professional conversations we’ve had with Mr. Sanchez’s team,” Tole’s attorney Matt Golitko wrote in a statement to USA Today. “Our discussions have been productive and we’re on a positive path toward an agreement that will allow the parties to move forward. Mr. Tole appreciates the progress we have achieved and looks forward to an amicable resolution.”
The proposed agreement follows Mark Sanchez’s decision last month to enter a guilty plea to charges related to his alleged beating of Perry Tole.
The truck driver claims he suffered ‘permanent’ injuries
According to the lawsuit, the 69-year-old Tole claimed he suffered “significant injuries to his head, jaw, and neck” and was left “permanently disfigured” by the attack at a loading dock of the Westin Hotel in Indianapolis.
Mark Sanchez stated in the affidavit that he spoke with hotel management, who told him Tole’s truck was parked in an unauthorized space. Tole used pepper spray in self-defense after Sanchez attempted to enter his vehicle without his consent. Afterward, Tole pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Sanchez in the torso as he pursued him.
Sanchez was taken into custody by police after being discharged from the hospital. In addition to misdemeanor charges of unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, public intoxication endangering the life of another and battery resulting in bodily injury, he was charged with one felony count of battery resulting in bodily injury.
Mark Sanchez’s ex-girlfriend spoke out after his arrest
After his arrest, Mark Sanchez’s ex-girlfriend, Irish model Bobby T (real name: Erin Campaneris), expressed that she was not surprised by his behavior.
“I am aware of the serious criminal charges currently facing my son’s father, Mark Sanchez,” she wrote. “My foremost priority has always been, and remains, our eight year old son, Daniel. I chose to remain silent publicly to protect Daniel.”
“Now that everything is out in the open, my focus hasn’t changed. I have always been concerned for [Daniel’s] safety and for what he is exposed to. Sadly, none of this is surprising to me,” she said about Mark Sanchez.
Before starting his broadcasting career, Mark Sanchez played 10 years in the NFL with the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and Washington Redskins. He lost his broadcasting job with Fox in November 2025, a month after the altercation.
