Sunday’s game between the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions got chippy in a hurry! Tempers flared between the two on the sideline during the first quarter.
Amid the minor kerfuffle, two Lions players tried to fight each other. It was hilarious.
The harmless incident got started with a sideline hit that caused wide receiver Darnell Moody to hit the ground hard. Running back Khalil Herbert took some issue with linebacker Alex Anzalone and decided to let him know.
There wasn’t much to it, but it didn’t go over well. Anzalone was frustrated. He started to run his mouth toward the Bears sideline which led to some pushing and shoving.
At that point, as things began to escalate, defensive back Kerby Joseph stepped in to get Anzalone away from the scene. They started to wrestle with each other before eventually separating!
It appeared as though Anzalone did not realize what was going on and tried to defend himself during the scuffle without understanding that it was his own teammate on the other side of the shoving match. Either that, or he was trying to get Joseph off of him so that he could continue to escalate the situation with the Bears players around him.
Regardless of the reason, it looked for a moment as if Anzalone and Joseph were about to brawl with each other. Fortunately, the former came to his senses and figured out what was going on!
The Detroit Lions have been the laughing stock of the NFL for the majority of the last 20+ years. That is not the case this year. However, to have two players (accidentally?) fight each other instead of fighting the other team is a reason to have a laugh at the expense of Motor City!
We have missed those jokes. It’s good to get one in. It’s also good that the minor fight did not become a melee.
