The Detroit Lions Troll Stephen A. Smith After Ripping Matthew Stafford And His Record-Setting Contract

When news hit that the Detroit Lions were making Matt Stafford the highest paid player in NFL history with a cartoonish $130 million, five-year contract, many of us were left scratching our heads. Stafford is a competent quarterback for sure, but the dude has a grand total of zero playoff wins in his career. And if your argument is “Well they haven’t armed him with a solid supporting cast!” they sure as hell won’t be able to now with Stafford chewing up over 15% of the team’s salary cap.

But, the 29-year-old Georgia alum made Lions’ fans momentarily forget that they are handcuffed to five years of mediocrity after throwing for four touchdowns and 292 yards en route to a 35-23 win against the Cardinals.

Before the game, the perpetually incorrect blowhard Stephen A. Smith tweeted the following.

The Lions social media account decided to chirp Smith for ripping a quarterback they’re putting their entire franchise on the shoulders of.

Chill, Detroit. Wait and see how he does the next 79 games before you start dancing before the end zone.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
