After a little more than a year since Las Vegas Aces point guard Kelsey Plum and NFL tight end Darren Waller got married, the couple are now getting a divorce.

Plum stirred up speculation with a cryptic post on social media Tuesday that read, “I’m devastated. I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go. God has given me an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends, One day I’ll share my story, today is not that day. Thank you for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward. Today and everyday I will continue to choose joy. Much love KP.”

She ended the message with “Philippians 1:6,” which reads, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

It wasn’t until media outlets like Fox 5 News and People magazine obtained court documents that it was confirmed that Plum, 29, and Waller, 31, were splitting up.

The couple met while Waller was playing for the Las Vegas Raiders from 2018 to 2022 and Plum moved with the San Antonio Stars to Vegas and became the Aces in 2018.

Just a week after Plum and Waller got married and 12 hours after they returned from their honeymoon, he was informed that he had been traded to the New York Giants. The couple had previously expressed some frustration with the fact that then-Raiders coach Josh McDaniels had leaked their marriage plans before they had publicly announced it.

Darren Waller, who has not commented on the couple’s split yet, posted several photos on Instagram from a trip to Hawaii just a day before the divorce filing.

“Peace of mind is not a destination to reach; it’s a state of mind to embrace,” Waller wrote in the caption to the pictures.
