New York Jets QB Zach Wilson left a game against the Miami Dolphins early and immediate reports have NFL fans wondering if it was due to injury or another reason.

The exit came following an absolutely dreadful first half of play.

The Jets were held scoreless through the first 30 minutes of action against their AFC East rivals. The offense mustered just four yards while turning the ball over twice.

Things got off to a rocky start on the first drive of the game as Wilson was sacked by Bradley Chubb and Christian Wilkins, leading to a fumble. The Dolphins recovered near the goal line and would score a touchdown three plays later.

New York would turn the ball over on downs the next time out, quickly falling behind by double digits. Miami’s lead would extend to 24 points by the end of the first half, but that wouldn’t be the only of the Jets’ concerns.

Zach Wilson was seen leaving the field after taking a few shots, with some saying the exit was due to a head injury.

“Jets PR tells me Zach Wilson is OUT with a head injury,” Jeff Darlington posted on X. “I asked if that meant he has a concussion. But no, it is not being called a concussion. And he is not in concussion protocol, per the Jets.”

That seemed a likely reason given the abuse being dealt by that Dolphins defense, but things got a bit confusing when Tracy Wolfson stated dehydration to be the cause of the quarterback’s absence.

“We saw Zach Wilson go into the locker room at the end of the half,” Wolfson reported. “He was being treated for dehydration. He remains in the locker room. Trevor Siemian is out here warming up.”

Wilson would not return, and things wouldn’t get any better with Siemian leading the offense. The reserve passer threw an interception and fumbled in the second half, helping Miami’s advantage grow further.

Zach Wilson wouldn’t return to the contest, and uncertainty once again surrounds the QB position in New York. Clarity on the situation should be given soon, but hopefully, Wilson’s not sidelined for an extended period of time.
