The Dallas Wings dropped to 1-11 during 2025 WNBA season with a loss to the Las Vegas Aces. DiJonai Carrington somehow managed to foul out during the fourth quarter alone.

She completely melted down over the final nine minutes of play, which also involved a frustrating interaction with head coach Chris Koclanes.

Carrington, a five-year WNBA veteran, recently got in trouble with Paige Bueckers for canoodling with her girlfriend prior to her team’s 10th loss of the season. They were out late at the pool and ultimately got kicked out by the hotel staff. Dallas got blown out by Phoenix less than 24 hours later.

The Wings returned to the court on Friday night against the Las Vegas Aces. Carrington finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in 35 minutes. Although that stat line might look pretty good on paper, she shot less than 40% from the field, committed four turnovers and fouled out of the game with six fouls over nine minutes in the fourth quarter. Her +/- closed at -5 for the game.

Not only did DiJonai Carrington foul out during the fourth quarter, every single one of her fouls came under five minutes. It was astonishing.

  1. 4:47 — shooting foul
  2. 3:40 — loose ball foul
  3. 1:53 — shooting foul
  4. 1:11 — shooting foul
  5. 0:13 — personal foul
  6. 0:06.1 — personal foul

That’ll do it. Carrington fouled out in the final five minutes of a four-point loss. Certainly not ideal.

To make matters worse, she took herself out of the play during a crucial moment of the fourth quarter because she was yelling at her head coach.

Dallas was leading Las Vegas by 11 points with less than four minutes remaining. Myisha Hines-Allen was called for an offensive foul with just over three minutes left as the Aces mounted their comeback. It could’ve gone either way. Carrington did not agree with the call.

She, and others, told Koclanes to challenge the foul. In doing so, she was completely oblivious to the defensive possession and failed to guard her assignment so the ball-handler drove right to the rim to pick up a foul on Bueckers. DiJonai Carrington looked back at her coach with her hands over her head as if it was his fault and yelled in his direction. Even if he should’ve challenged the prior play, she actively chose not to play defense while arguing. The questionable foul was entirely irrelevant at that point.

Bad look for Carrington. She fouled out of the game in less than five minutes during the fourth quarter and failed to play defense because she was yelling at her coach. The negative +/- doesn’t help.

The Dallas Wings need to get going if they are going to slip into the playoffs through the back door. DiJonai Carrington must step up.
