Dirk’s Jersey Misspelled His Name The Night He Became Sixth NBA Player To Reach 50k Minutes

dirk misspelled jersey

Dallas Mavericks grandpa legend, Dirk Nowitkzi Nowitzki hit a major career milestone last night against the Los Angeles Clippers when he became the sixth player in NBA history to spend 50,000 minutes on the hardwood.

Dirk passed Elvin Hayes on the NBA’s all-time minutes played list, moving into 5th all time. Now Dirk joins an elite club of Elvin Hayes, Jason Kidd, Kevin Garnett, Karl Malone, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players in NBA history to play 50,000+ minutes.

Unfortunately, all of the Mavs excitement lead to a pretty embarrassing oversight… Ole Dirk was wearing a jersey that misspelled his name. Somehow, nobody noticed the misspelling until the end of this game.

Someone is definitely getting fired:

Also, I love Dirk’s comment about the jersey after the game:

He’s basically saying the Mavs season doesn’t matter, no one really cares, and the team is trying to act like it isn’t a huge disastrous mess.

Anyway, huge night for Dirk who drafted during the Nixon administration. I would argue, Dirk Nowitzki shouldn’t get credit for minutes played by Dirk Nowitkzi… meaning Dirk won’t join the NBA’s 50k minutes club until they lose to the Warriors on Thursday. So, be sure to tune in for that milestone.
