DK Metcalf believes there's a secret society living under the Earth
Aaron Rodgers seems to be rubbing off on his teammate DK Metcalf, as the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver has seemingly become a bit conspiratorial. According to Metcalf, there is a secret civilization living under the ice of Antarctica.
In a new feature interview with The Athletic ahead of his second season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, DK Metcalf revealed he is now a committed conspiracy theorist and thanks his quarterback for the development.

“Yeah, I’m a big conspiracy theorist. Shout out to my quarterback,” Metcalf told The Athletic. “I’ve been on it. But it just so happened that we can bond over it.”
The primary conspiracy theory that Metcalf discussed was a belief that there is a secret society living under the ice of Antarctica, which he believes is “another world.”
“I think it’s another world. I think there is another civilization inside of Earth. You can go to Alaska. You could go to the North Pole,. But why not Antarctica? Why can’t you just book a trip to Antarctica?” he asked.
The theory Metcalf is describing is a variation of Hollow Earth — the long-debunked concept that advanced civilizations exist deep below the surface of the planet, accessible only through an entry point near the South Pole.
Perhaps Metcalf hasn’t done enough of his “own research,” as you can, in fact, simply “book a trip to Antarctica.”
Antarctica tourism typically runs November through March, with most trips departing via cruise ship from South America and arriving around the Antarctic Peninsula. Basic expedition cruise runs usually cost between $5,000-$15,000, although there are more premium options that cost significantly higher.
Metcalf, Rodgers, and the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers will kick off their 2026 season at home against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, September 13.
