Even though he’s viewed by many Philadelphia Eagles fans as a hero, that’s not how the NFL league office is viewing team security staffer Dom DiSandro. They’ve handed out a huge fine after Disandro was involved in a scuffle on the sideline in the team’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on December 3rd.

Just to refresh your memory, here was the incident involving DiSandro and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

The league did not react kindly to the incident, and they decided pretty quickly that Dom DiSandro was out of line and in violation of league rules. He was immediately suspended from being on the team’s sidelines during games, but he’s been allowed to keep his job with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he helps oversee security for the team’s players and travels with the team to away games.

But, the NFL wasn’t done handing out discipline after the indefinite suspension, and on Friday they announced just how much DiSandro would be fined.

That number? $100,000.

Luckily for DiSandro, the Eagles organization will likely pay that fine for him. But, that seems like a lofty fine for someone that isn’t making millions like the players he is protecting. I completely agree with him not being on the sidelines for the rest of the year. Team staffers shouldn’t be causing issues like this, and those that do should be treated seriously. But, that level of fine seems overboard.

Maybe the Eagles need him on the sideline, though. Since the incident, the team hasn’t won a game, and they’re now 10-4 after a 10-1 start. They definitely need something to spark them when it comes playoff time. It seems like DiSandro could return to sidelines for the playoffs.
