We at BroBible don’t get involved in politics. But, sometimes, politics intertwine with sports, and that’s what has happened when it comes to the golf properties owned by the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has an impressive list of golf courses he owns, with courses in New Jersey, Los Angeles, Florida, and many other states. His two most notable courses stateside are Trump National Bedminster (NJ) and Trump National Doral (FL).

But, the most prestigious course Donald Trump owns is Trump Turnberry in Scotland. The course has hosted 4 Open Championships, 7 Senior Open Championships, and 2 Women’s Open Championships.

But, it sounds like the course, which most recently hosted the Open Championship in 2009, will not be getting the championship again. Here is Yahoo! with more details.

Donald Trump will never realise his dream of holding the Open at his Turnberry golf resort, sources close to the R&A have suggested.

The 45th US president has been lobbying for his Ayrshire venue to be picked again, saying “everybody wants to see the Open Championship here”.

However, the R&A, which manages the world-renowned event, is understood to now flatly reject the prospect of selecting Turnberry in the near future. One source suggested Trump’s only option would be to sell up as his ownership is still perceived as a serious security risk due to potential protests.

Turnberry is an elite course, no doubt about that. But, a list of the top courses in the world by Golf.com has it as the fifth-best course in Europe, not first.

At the end of the day, it seems like the R&A does not want to deal with the controversy that would come with an Open Championship hosted at a Donald Trump course.
