Class of 2024 shooting guard Jahki Howard, a five-star recruit and projected Power-5 starter, has made a massive decision regarding his future. Howard announced on Tuesday that he will be moving across the country to continue his high school career.

Specifically, the 6-foot-6, 175-pound sophomore will be attending Kanye West’s new private school, Donda Academy.

Howard is a top-five prospect in his class and this announcement changes the landscape of high school basketball. It’s a huge addition to a team that has yet to play a game.

And he’s not the only one.

Four-star Class of 2023 small forward Jalen Hooks and reigning North Carolina player of the year, five-star point guard Robert Dillingham is also on board.

This trio of transfers is truly crazy, considering that Donda Academy is not yet a real thing. Neither Kanye nor the school has announced when it will open.

What is Donda Academy?

According to an Aug. 30 permit report, Donda Academy Inc. requested a change of occupancy for the former Simi Valley Stoneridge Prep School. It is located between Simi Valley and Moorpark, just outside of Los Angeles.

The 5,728-square-foot property includes classrooms, labs, offices, bathrooms, a kitchen, storage, a basketball court and an open field.

Details are very hard to come by, but the school announced its mission early last month.

Per reports, Donda Academy will be a tuition-free K-12 private school open to 60 students. The school will reportedly offer computer science, STEM, Japanese and physical education courses.

But none of that is confirmed, and 60 students seems like a small number, considering that three spots are already filled by three top basketball recruits.

With the academy, West hopes to honor the academic legacy of his mother Donda West, who was an educator.
