Donovan Mitchell is apparently not very happy in Utah.

The guard got into a bit of a scuffle with teammate Rudy Gobert following the team’s exit from the NBA playoffs earlier this month. Gobert essentially said it was him or Mitchell, demanding that one of them be traded from the Jazz this offseason.

It doesn’t look like things have gotten much better as trade rumors are now beginning to swirl with Mitchell being the centerpiece. The Knicks were a hot topic over the last few days as they attempted to build a package to land the scoring threat, but it seems that they haven’t been able to do enough to win the Jazz over.

Instead, it appears a new team is rising to the top of the list to land Mitchell’s services, and it would make him an immediate championship contender should a deal get done.

One team gaining traction in possible Donovan Mitchell trade

It looks like the Heat are a potential landing spot for Mitchell next season. They’ve reportedly been working on gathering a package that includes Tyler Herro and a ton of value in future NBA drafts.

Mitchell, who averaged just under 26 points per game last year, would be able to team up with veteran Jimmy Butler. That backcourt duo would be one of the more potent in the league. The Heat would give up Herro, who notched 20.7 points a game as well as multiple first-round picks.

News of the possible trade has taken off on social media, and many around the NBA are reacting.

NBA world reacts to the Donovan Mitchell news

Many believe that adding Mitchell to the Heat would push them to an NBA title.

Others, however, believe that the Heat need to improve down low rather than trading away a top scorer and future draft picks.

Miami is trending even if fans are split on a potential deal. We’ll see if this continues to gain steam over the offseason.
