A DoorDash driver in Houston, Texas, recently went way above and beyond the call of duty. A fleeing suspect’s car hit her as she was exiting her car during a police chase. Despite the terrifying incident, she still finished her delivery. Naturally, someone caught the whole thing on video.
In a video of the crash, Houston police are seen pursuing the suspect’s grey car. Before being apprehended, the suspect reportedly fled on foot after striking the driver and tried to hide in the backyards of several nearby houses.
According to ABC 13 News, the DoorDash driver, who declined to reveal her identity, stated that she is in quite a bit of pain after the crash but said that she did not have any broken bones. She added that she is considering making a claim against the insurer of the car that hit her.
The person who filmed the crash hopes the DoorDash driver gets an extra reward
“I was on the phone with my husband, and I just hear somebody crash,” said Lily Portillo, who caught the wild scene on video. “So I’m like, wait a minute, I heard something from police. When he came out from my door, I think it was HPD parked on my mulch, like what happened here!”
While a police K-9 unit eventually caught up with the suspect, the DoorDash driver, after pausing to recover, delivered the food to the house where she parked.
“It’s amazing how the girl just delivered the food. I asked her if she was okay, and she said she was okay,” said Portillo. “She needs a big tip. I really hope somebody finds her and hope she’s okay.”
The driver of the car that hit the DoorDash driver was fleeing police after an attempted traffic stop and was wanted for burglary. Police added an aggravated assault charge for crashing into the delivery woman.
