Dustin Poirier says Bud Light terminated their sponsorship deal with him
Dustin Poirier’s Father’s Day airport arrest hasn’t only dented his reputation, but his wallet, too. The retired UFC fighter says Bud Light immediately dropped him after video of the incident went viral.
During an interview with Ariel Helwani on Tuesday, Dustin Poirier revealed that Bud Light terminated his sponsorship deal immediately following his June 21 arrest for public drunkenness at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Body cam footage of the arrest went massively viral on social media after it was published as it showed Poirier calling the responding officer the n-word and challenging him to a fight.
“I’ll fight you right now. I’ll go with you right now. Let’s go,” Poirier said as he shed his backpack. “It’s gon’ be bad. It’s gon’ be bad my n—-.”
Not only was the footage of Poirier’s arrest inflammatory, but Bud Light is also, obviously, an alcohol brand, meaning they have an even lower tolerance for any booze-related mishaps and brand partnerships.
Poirier said the loss of the Bud Light deal will cost him “a few hundred thousand dollars.”

“They terminated my contract immediately. It’s all good, man. I don’t need that f—— poison in my life,” Poirier told Helwani. “It sucks that my family is missing out on the money I had left on the deal with them, which was a few hundred thousand dollars, but also if I’m representing something I’m not gonna be taking part in, promoting stuff, it is what it is.”
Bud Light had already quietly re-edited a commercial Poirier had filmed alongside UFC announcer Bruce Buffer in the immediate aftermath of the arrest, but it wasn’t confirmed that the sides had officially parted ways until earlier this week.
Poirier’s final UFC fight came against Max Holloway at UFC 318 on July 19, 2025 in his home state of Louisiana. Poirier lost the fight, putting his final UFC record at 30 wins and 10 losses.
Atlanta Police Department officers were called to Delta Gate D36 at approximately 4:50 p.m. on June 21 in response to reports of an intoxicated passenger who had been refused entry onto Delta Flight 1295. Poirier was arrested and taken to the Clayton County Jail, where he was charged with public intoxication.
In the aftermath of the incident, Poirier had said that the arrest is a wake-up call and that he intends to quit drinking for good.
